$1,000 Per Month From Adsense? Here Is My Challenge To You
This article is guest posted by Paul McCarthy.
As an internet marketer I love taking on new challenges. And this year, one of my challenges is to get to $1,000 per month with Adsense from scratch.
The reason for this challenge isn’t so much that $1,000 per month is really going to change my life much, but more to prove to the numerous sceptics out there that internet marketing is more than just a possibility, but that it requires a bit of focus and consistent action.
Anyway, enough about me – the reason I’m writing this article is to talk about you! How would you like to earn an additional $1,000 per month by the end of next year? Is that something you’d be interested in? If so, I challenge you to join me in the Adsense challenge.
And even if you’re a beginner, here’s why Adsense is a pretty easy thing to make money from:
- You simply need to know how to create a WordPress blog
- No need for an autoresponder
- You don’t need to sell (one of the hardest things to do online!)
- You can get traffic from the search engines by targeting non competitive key phrases and doing a bit of backlink building
So How Does this Challenge Work?
So here’s what we do in a nutshell:-
We find a niche, build a WordPress blog, create some content, add our Adsense ads and get natural search traffic straight from Google.
As always, the devil is in the detail. So let me run through some of the steps for you:-
Step 1 – Keyword Research
Whenever your strategy involves getting traffic from the search engines then keyword research is fundamental. In order to find the best keywords, we should look for those that satisfy three main things:-
- Significant search volume
- Not too much competition
- A high average cost per click value.
The first two are fairly standard when it comes to keyword research. The third metric, the cost per click, is all about ensuring that we’re paid more than a few cents per click. Here’s why the Cost per Click (CPC) is so important:
Adsense has two sides to its platform. On the one side, we have the advertisers who pay for their listings and on the other side we have publishers that are paid when a listing is clicked. Google acts as a broker between the two and pays the publisher 60% of what the advertiser spends.
So, if your content is structure around a key phrase that gets a cost per click of 20 cents then you’ll only expect to earn just over 10 cents each time someone clicks on your ad.
If, on the other hand, the advertiser is paying $5 per click, then you’ll be paid around $3 per click.
Obviously we’d rather be paid $3 per click than 10 cents – that’s why we pay attention to the cost per click value.
So, here’s what I recommend – find a group of around 10 keywords that get decent search volume, minimal competition and have a cost per click of above $2.50.
Step 2 – Set up Your Site
The obvious next step is to purchase a domain that’s related to the keyword group you’re targeting. I’d recommend picking up a domain that is an exact match for one of the keywords that you’re targeting…for example if your niche is high intensity weight loss then try and get the domain: highintensityweightloss.com
Once you’ve picked up your domain, sort out some hosting for it. Personally I like to use Hostgator because they’re cheap and offer a decent service.
The final part of this step involves installing your blog. I tend to use WordPress – and you can usually install WordPress through the Fantastico portion of your hosting control panel.
Step 3 – Install an Adsense Theme
The next step is to install an adsense theme. I’d recommend that you install this one because it has a notoriously high click through rate usually in excess of 10%.
Remember, we are only trying to sell the click and the one major key to selling a click with Adsense is to try and make the ads blend in with the rest of the content on the page as much as possible. Here is a great example of the theme in action on an adsense optimised site: http://onlineteachercertificationprograms.info
Step 4 – Create Content
At this part of the process you need to spend some time creating content for each of the keywords that you found in step 1. You need one piece of content for each key phrase. Here’s what I suggest you do to make sure that your content is nicely optimised for the keyword:-
- Use the exact match key phrase in the title of the post
- Use the key phrase numerous times in the body of the article
- Use semantically related key phrases in the article
- Create content that has a length of more than 500 words
Doing all of the above will ensure that Google finds your post extremely relevant for the key phrase that you’re trying to target and give it a good chance of ranking highly.
Step 5– Build Backlinks to your Content
As the final step in the Adsense equation, you simply need to build enough backlinks to your content so that your site ranks for the terms that you are trying to target. This means creating web 2.0 sites, submitting articles, social bookmarking, RSS feed submission, profile backlinks and so on…
Build as many different type of backlinks to your content and monitor the results that you get using some kind of rank checker.
Here is a free rank checker that you can use.
Don’t stop building backlinks until you have your site is listed on the top page for the key terms that you’re targeting. Remember, backlinks are the most significant part of search engine optimisation.
That’s the Adsense Challenge in a Nutshell!
So, my question to you is – are you still up for the $1,000 per month challenge?
Understand that this isn’t a get rich quick scheme – I expect a site like this to take approximately 3 months before it’s earning $10 per day…And thereafter it is simply a case of analysing the keywords that are being used to access your site and optimise for new “low hanging fruit”.
And finally, don’t forget, $1,000 per month from Adsense may not seem like much, but if you invest that back into your internet marketing business then your online empire will grow very quickly – it won’t be long before you’re turning over ten times that amount!

Paul:
I would love to make a $1000 per month from Adsense. I do not have the time at the moment to build Adsense sites as I am working on another project at the moment. But I will make some time within the next couple of months.
How do you recommend finding keywords with a CPC of $2.50 or more?
How many Adsense sites and how long do you think it will take you to start making $1000 per month?
Thanks,
Rick

This is pretty awesome article and tip but mind you said 500 words should the post have. John Chow recommends only 200 words at least you are direct to the point and 200 words are enough to say about your topic.
Great! Backlink is hard thing to do.

I think theirs a lot of work for me to achieve that $1000/day. But knowing the right way and ideas on how to make money online will truly reach that goal. I believe adsense is a powerful tool to make us quite settle down for good.

This is a real challenge for everyone especially for those just starting on their first year. So my first year is a lot of learning and there are some things that I wish I did earlier but just found about them later. Once you get the ride of it, everything seems automatic and each blog post you make is aligned to this “system” that you’ve already established for yourself. Thanks Carlo.

Until now I still do not get “beat” how to make money from google adsense. What I mean is that the niche blog. However, for a general blog I might have been satisfied with my income even away from google 1000usd/day

Thanks Paul for this insightful article and Carl for placing it on his website ;-) .
Your tip about having a high average CPC value of at least $2.50 for researched keywords really woke me up ! No point putting up blogs around keywords that has CPC value of only a few cents — imagine how much traffic we need on our website in order to reach the $1000 per month target that Paul is challenging us !
With this in mind, I will be more focused when I set my next Adsense money site. Thanks bro !

Ok, I’m gonna say this as nicely as I can. You’ve got great info, but you aren’t telling people that it’s very hard and very unlikely they will be making even $10/day in their first year. I’ve got a blog that’s been around for years, has 90 subscribers and adsesne, it’s getting a dollar something a click on ads, but I’m not making $10/month even. That’s even with hot keywords, good content, and an attractive looking blog, good ad placement, and backlinks all over the place. Just saying, it’s harder than you make it appear to be. I would love to be making $1,000/month off of any of my blogs, but I don’t see it happening any time in the near future.
