3 expert blogging tips from a 13 year old

By Carl on March 11, 2007

If you’re starting to make blogs (like three or four) you need to pick your blogging topic that you’re comfortable with. Like me, my topic is problogging, I can post easily because I LIKE blogging. Pick topics that you like.

In my experience, my main problem is always the template. I am always having trouble changing, editing because of wrong codes and links. I learned that I was WRONG; the main thing is the content not the template and etc.

Ok, so now I will discuss to you three expert blogging tips, here they are:

1. Get a topic that you’re comfortable with. Like what I said a while ago, pick a topic that you’re comfortable with, because if you like the topic you are discussing you are gaining interest to your blog and when you gain interest you also post with interest, ending up with an interesting post.

2. Pick a theme that doesn’t cause you many problems. Before a theme for me is a very important aspect in blogs. But when I visited popular professional blogs like techcrunch and engadget, all I saw is just an ordinary plain old theme. Now it come up in my mind that themes are aren’t that important at all, all that matters for me is the content!

3. Don’t go out of topic. This is a common mistake of many bloggers. They go out of topic, that’s why they get fewer visitors. I’ll give you an example, I found a magazine on a bookstore titled T3 (a magazine about technology) but on the header what I saw was “sexy pics of …. See they go out of place; they are writing articles that are not related to their topic which is WRONG. You will get fewer visitors that way. Relevance is a very important aspect in problogging.

Those are the things which I learned from my experiences in blogging. That’s all the things I can say if you want to start blogging. Just come back here for more.

Great job, Carl. I’ve recommended your site to a friend who has been asking the questions you’re answering.
