3 High Conversion Tricks That You Are Not Using

By jr Under Conversion

This article is guest posted by JR

That is our goal isn’t it? We want to convert as much as possible, and the possibilities are endless. There is always something to test, something to improve, or something to change. With so much going on there’s no surprise that people miss some things that could dramatically increase conversions.

Here is my list of the top 3 things you probably are not using. Individually, these tricks can give you marginal improvements on your conversion rate, but make these 3 changes and watch your conversion soar!

1. Remove Your CAPTCHAs!.. (Or at least change them)

CAPTCHAs anti-spam security forms that visitors have to fill out to prove they are human and not spam bots. They output a series of random letters and numbers that are impossible for a computer to read, and very hard for humans to read.If you are using a CAPTCHA on your website, then guess what? Your conversion rate is dropping!

The problem with CAPTCHAs is that most people don’t want to take the time to decipher the code that is presented to them, and many give up after just one try. This has happened to me more times that I can count. Sometimes I spend minutes hitting the refresh button until I find something that I think I could type. But this happens rarely and only when I really want or need what the website is offering.

If you have CAPTCHA on your comment form for your blog, then this probably won’t hurt your conversion rates, but if it’s on your optin form or sales page, it could potentially be costing you a lot of money!

I would recommend disabling all CAPTCHAs on your website, but if it’s absolutely imperative that you have one then I a recommend NuCAPTCHA, this alternative an easy to read CAPTCHA that is displayed on a moving background. This definite improvement on most CAPTCHAS out there, but it’s defiantly not a true solution.

2.  Display Your Privacy Policy on Your Opt in Forms

Adding a privacy policy to your form eases the prospect into not worrying about you spamming them. It makes your offer more legitimate and trustworthy.

If you already have a privacy policy then just add a link to it from your optin form that reads “Privacy Policy”, and that’s it!

If you don’t have one then don’t worry, you can make one in less than one minute, I promise! Just look at what Copyblogger did, and follow his example:

You don’t need much more than that to assure your prospects you won’t spam them or sell them information.

3.  404 Pages are your friends

Don’t let any prospect fall through the cracks! Create a helpful 404 page that re-directs customers back to your site. Offer valuable content in these pages; you can even add an optin form!

Obviously you should try to fix any missing pages that show up in search results, but inevitably someone will type the wrong URL for one of your pages and a 404 page will come up. Don’t lose this opportunity!

If you are a Thesis theme user follow this guide to add custom 404 page.

The Bottom Line

It easy to get caught up with the intricacies of internet marketing, but if we can just make it simple and pain-free, for your prospect to take action, then guess what?… they will!

Concentrate on removing obstacles go through your webpage and find any “holes in the bucket”. It won’t only give you better conversion rates. It will also make your prospects happier, giving you the chance to do business with them.

At last, somebody heard my prayers. I hate CAPTCHAs. It’s not because I want the bots to enter but I can’t actually read them easily. If I can’t read them, I refresh them 3 times until I get to understand what was written. If not, bye bye. If you don’t want to remove them, just change them into mathematical operations just like other blogs are doing.
