Digg, I’m Sorry

By Carl on January 25, 2008

Experimenting is my thing.

At the age of 5, I always ask my dad for old scraps, electronics and stuff. I open it, but never put a single screw back again.

At the age of 8, I open up my toys and connected it with anything I can find in our house. I remember the days when my mom would yell at me “Clean up your mess!”

Experimenting is really my thing…

And I did it again - this time, with Digg. The result?

“My Blog Got Banned On Digg”

Not only my blog but also my account, and that’s a pretty big loss for me. I love Digg and I visit it almost everyday to hang out and read interesting stories.

I love reading those everyday Apple news, Ron Paul hoorays and especially looking at the Digg’s image section. I can’t bookmark them now.

Today, I’m gonna use my mom’s advice. I’ll clean up this mess, so…

Congratulations Dane Morgan And To The Winner Of The Sponsored Review

By Carl on January 8, 2008

Geesh, it looks like I’ve been bitch slapped by the ol’ Dane Morgan by beating me up in the 4th International Blog Cup - even if I have whipped up my own contest.

It was an awesome experience though, I felt a little bit of excitement and joy when I led a few votes but that’s it, Dane Morgan still prevailed.

The funny thing was, John Chow, SEOmoz and the infamous I Love Typography blog that I expected to win this competition were ALL knocked out.

The Winner Of The Sponsored Review Worth $70…

Enough of the iBlogcup, I know most of you fellas are wetting your pants to know the winner of the free sponsored review.

*Drum roll please*

And the winner of the free sponsored review is:

Melo Villareal of Manila Freelancer!

Congratulations Melo. To claim your price drop me a mail and we’ll talk about the details personally.

I’ll wait for a week if I hear from you so…

Help Me Win The 4th International Blog Cup

By Carl on January 2, 2008

3rd Update: Score is 27 : 31, we’re catching up guys! 4 more votes to go.

2nd Update: Score is 18 : 29, Dave is still on the lead. The wrath of Carl Ocab reader ain’t enough?

Update: Score is 16 : 22, Dave is leading 6 points. Go on and vote guys!

Greg of iBlogCup emailed me yesterday that I was nominated to be featured in the 4th international blog cup. If I’m not mistaken iBlogCup was featured on Problogger awhile back.

Now, can I ask you a little favor? Vote for me!

C’mon, let’s show the wrath of Carl Ocab readers to that Dane Morgan.

Although, I’m sure this will be a tough competition as the evil one, John Chow, SEOmoz and the infamous I Love Typography blog are also in. Nevertheless, that leaves no excemption to battle out for that virtual cup!

Thanks in advance guys.

What Did You Do This Christmas?

By Carl on December 31, 2007

After the launch of the new design, I spent few minutes killing some theme bugs (Although I’m sure there are still some) then got back to work with the product I was talking about before. The report was finished near midnight 11 PM. When I converted it to PDF a minor glitch pop-upped. It seems like the image lost its quality. I haven’t encountered this before and in fact, I’m still using the same converter (Adobe 3d) and the same image types.

Luckily I’ve got a friend on MSN who was willing to help. Dean Hunt generously converted it for me just so I finish it before the deadline - Thanks man.

While we were chatting, I was surprised when my mom told me that we’re going out tomorrow. Of course, I didn’t ask why because obviously it’s Christmas time. That snowballed and gave the launch 3 days of delay, considering that I got…

We Got Hacked - And How We Fixed It

By Carl on December 30, 2007

This Sunday morning, Slashpix IMed me on gtalk about a shocking thing that happened to my blog. He asked “What’s up with your site?”, with enough curiosity I checked out my blog and wow - this just scared the heck out of me:

Parking Page of Carl Ocab dot com

In the hopes of just a web host slip, I checked every domain on the same hosting account. Eight of them were taken down and all under the name of my dad. Namely carlocab.com and grandstart.com.

I paused for a moment and logged in on MSN to find guys whom I can chat with and get help because this is the first site hackage I encountered. Three people started IMing me and asked about the parking page. One of them was my buddy XMCP who gladly helped me and gave me useful advices on what to do.

After a few minutes, I chatted with Host Gator…
