It’s a BIG video and took me an hour to upload on Youtube. Unknowingly they’d delete it after because it’s more than 10 minutes long. So yeah I screwed.

Second, the quality is not that cool because I’m using the built in 1.3 megapixels webcam of my Vaio – not cool (compared to those sweet HD’s) but OK.

Third, I like this interview personally. I did the interview with trusty bondpaper, goofed off around a “bit” and gave some good stuff (I can’t quite decide if this video is about me goofing off or answering interview questions)

I’m pretty sure you’ll like it nonetheless…

Questions asked by bond… paper (actually they’re from Ben Pei)

1. Hi Carl, you have been the well known kid guru around the block who makes money online at the age of 13. Could you tell us more about how did you get yourself started and where did your main inspirations come from?

2. Everyone knows it isn’t to get on Google’s first page for keyword “Make Money Online” but you manage to keep your throne even up till now. What are the exact methods you use to reach this position?

3. When I first visited CarlOcab.com, your RSS subscriber count was at 8,000+ and now it has climbed up to 14,000+. (Even while you were away from your blog for awhile). How did you manage to keep this up?

4. I know selling ads hasn’t been a problem for you because I always see new ad placement on your blog. Do you go about contacting businesses or do you only wait for companies/personal to contact you?

5. Following up to the question above, does the blog theme really affect your ad sales?

6. Carl, you have created one of the most practical and converting theme for monetized blogging. Would you like to use this chance to tell my readers why they should use your Ultimate Blogging Theme?

7. If they were to buy your Ultimate Blogging Theme, how can they make full use of it and ensure they are really able to start making money from their blogs?

8. Besides blogging, you make money from affiliate marketing too right? Do you make use of any other marketing methods besides blogging and mailing list?

9. Finally the last question Carl. While many of your peers at your age are still hanging out in shopping malls or at gaming parties, you are raking 4 figures every month. Can you give some words of encouragement and advice to help them succeed as well?

The SEO Method that is going to explain below in detail, is a surefire method proven to rank you #1 on all major Search Engines listed thus: Google, Yahoo Search and MSN.

On this post we will learn how to Rank #1 on your Primary Keyword regardless of how competitive it is.

Before we deep our feet to the SEO method, you need to first set some objectives for your site. Otherwise there is no need of Ranking #1 for the sake of it.

The two main objectives that any internet marketer should have in mind are:

a)Â Â Â Â Drive traffic to their $$$ Money Site i.e. if you have a product that you own and sell.

b)Â Â Â Â Drive traffic to a squeeze page i.e. if you are building an email list where you can promote your affiliate products or can use for future launch of some product that you are working on.

c)Â Â Â Â A bonus goal is drive traffic to a site that you have monetized on Adsense or other affiliate programs.

NB: As far as am concerned it’s not wise to drive traffic directly to an affiliate link even if you are using PPC – Pay per Click Advertising, I’d rather review the affiliate product on my site and drive my traffic there or even better use a redirect Link that I have control of in Future.

We are going to Focus on Three Main Stages:

i.     Article and Directory Submissions

§        Ezine Articles

§        Other Article Directories

§        Blog Networks

§        Directory Submission

ii.     Social Networks

§        Web 2.0

§        Social Bookmarking

§        Videos

iii.     Own Networks

§        Build your own Networks and Sites

As you can see you need to have a pre-existing business or the money side of your web presence at the middle. To mean that you are linking back to your site with an objective which is either making you money or generating leads through organic sources from your primary and secondary Keywords.

Am not going through the trouble of helping you identify a Niche or keywords for your business we will do that on another post.

This method can be used on sites to rank #1 on major search engines regardless of the site you are promoting whether it’s a blog, an ecommerce site, a static site etc it’s a one for all method. You could be selling goods via air, waterways and roads or are just selling digital or downloadable products. Again this method works for all types of sites.

As a reminder our headline is the long term goal to rank #1 and remain unreachable by your competition not some black hat technique that will get you on top and then the following day you are disqualified and perceived to be playing some games with search engines.

i.     Ezine Articles – using ezinearticles.com you can submit 10 -15 quality and original articles linking back directly to your site on www.yourdomain.com  with primary keywords as well as other secondary links on your domain. You can outsource for some articles using Guru.com or RentACoder or even better use the instant article Wizard to generate articles for your Niche and containing your

ii.     The other Step is to submit re-written PRL articles to other article directories. You can do 20 – 300 of them over time. Again make sure you use your primary keywords and the secondary ones to link back to the money side of your business as well as on the secondary links within your site. For every article you can submit to various directories at the same time. Personally I use the Semi-automatic submitter i.e. submitterbot.com it’s Free and with one membership site you it can help register you to other hundreds of article directory sites. Make sure your articles meet the ezinearticles.com standards, this adds the probability of your articles been accepted in other directories easily.

iii.     Blog Networks – There are hundreds if not thousands of blog Networks out there. However it’s wise to check on Premium Networks where to avoid being disqualified by search engines and be seen to be playing some game. Incase you use the Free Blog networks then be careful not to link to your money side but rather link to your articles in 1 and 2 above and eventually the juice will flow back to the money side of your business safely. If you look carefully you can identify this principle in the diagram above. You put your target to 50 -100 blog networks. Again there is no hurry but you do this overtime.

iv.     Directory Submission – This used to be very effective and is still is today. You can submit to between 100 and 150 directories and make sure all the links flow directly to your money side and very minimal if any on the secondary links on your site. Again with Submitterbot.com you can submit your Link to over 500 directories with a title and a small description.

v.     Web 2.0 – There are many definitions for web 2.0 but I simply refer to it as websites with user generated content. A good example is wordpress, blogger, Squidoo among others. What you do is get an account with them and publish content with links back to your money side and secondary links on your site as well. With this platform you can do 5-10 submissions

vi.     Social Bookmarking – This includes Sites like Facebook, Digg, Stumble Upon, Myspace, etc. You can be creative here and see if you can join related groups in these networks and share your links back to your web 2.0 articles and none direct to your money side or even secondary links on your domain, Unless your money side business is a blog and not some product sales letter or static site. Most people strive to be on Digg Front page but as you have seen there are loads of other things you can do to get targeted organic traffic from search engines using your primary keywords. You can bookmark to between 100 and 150 sites.

vii.     Videos- With a world where people have developed a culture of sitting their butt and watching T.V. then videos come in Handy. In this category you can do between 1 to Infinite Videos just make sure they are viral hence easily shared. You can share your videos via social book marking and let them point directly to your money side domain as well as links to your social book marking sites. Again you can uses services such as Youtube and other premium sites.

viii.     Your Own Networks. Remember your goal is to build an online business that has an ongoing leverage. As you have noticed there is lots of hard work involved. Under this section you can register 5 -10 domains register them under different names so that they can appear natural and leave them to mature for two to three years. Then post some articles pointing to your money side domain. You can also monetize on these domains using opportunities like AdSense and/or affiliate Links

Please note the number of times to use any of the tools above is not limited to the number of times you can use it. If you are already ranking #1 on your preferred Search Engines then you can apply the said techniques from time to time to make sure you retain your position and if you are not yet on top 10 then start applying the said methods using the given tools and later on you will realize that constant dripping can hollow a stone.

Action Points:

A.    Get your money Side of the Business ready before you start SEO.

B.    Identify your primary Keyword(s) from the beginning and be consistent with it/ them throughout the SEO Method application.

C.   Measure your Work from time to time using tools like Alexa.com, Google page rank, Unique Visitors on your stats etc before you start using revenue as your measuring tool, this will encourage you along the way.

D.   Use third party services for your products e.g. PayDotCom.com to avoid affiliates messing with your domain name directly and get Search engines penalizing you on this, hence putting this SEO Method to Null.

E.    Finally, don’t forget the basics; e.g. Meta tags, Search engine friendly URL’s, <h1> title tags as Carl teaches, commenting on other with your links e.t.c.

In conclusion you may feel free to link to this article, comment and share your methods, mine works but it’s not the only way. You may also pick on one of the tools and expand on it fully; otherwise if I was to expound on each of them I’d have to do an ebook, Lol…

If you like this article there is a membership site to be launched in six months time called integrated Internet Marketing that helps ordinary offline businesses to adopt online marketing as well as helping the Digital Products Internet marketers to build successful, ongoing and profitable Online businesses.

We also will be able to turn such great Formula articles as this into videos, as The Expert David Jenyns has done and then later on share them to members on our site

To your Success,

Mike

If you are going to try to make money online by affiliate marketing or if you have products to sell, or if you have a content website, you will need to ensure that your SEO is completely up to scratch. Without SEO any website online will fail to bring in a reasonable income for a variety of reasons. SEO is fundamental to the growth and development of an online business.

What Does SEO Mean?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. That means making websites that search engines can not only find and index properly but also see the website as a highly valuable resource online. The more valuable your website is to search engines the higher your website will be ranked on searches. SEO determines in essence how valuable your website is. SEO includes such techniques as link building, keyword optimization and more to ensure that your website is deemed useful by search engines and so that when a user searches for certain terms and keywords your website will display in a prominent place on the search results.

Why is this Important to My Website?

SEO is important because the better your search engine rankings are the more likely it is your website will receive more traffic from these search engines. The prominent place where your website is displayed in search engine results will determine how many people will not only see but then go on to click your website link and visit your site. The more people that see your website the more people will buy your website products or click on your affiliate adverts. Essentially, in order to make money online with a successful online business you need to be able to generate enough traffic to your website. The more traffic the better for your potential sales and revenue.

How Does SEO help Conversion Rates and Sales?

SEO can not only help your sales by generating large amounts of traffic to your website but it can also help raise your traffic conversion levels too. SEO when applied correctly and thoroughly can include sales copy, dedicated SEO informational articles and more than can help tempt your customers into clicking links and buying products. You can also turn users into customers with the right focused keywords and information.

Will SEO help me to earn money at home easily?

SEO is by no means the only aspect of your money making method that will help you. You need to work hard at your money making idea thoroughly as well as your search engine marketing plans so that your business is successful regardless of what your business method is for making money online. That said SEO is a vital and essential element of your business plan. Making money online will involve a website of some description whether it’s your personal contact page or your main sales page. Without the right SEO to help ensure it is properly indexed, crawled and keyword optimized your website will not be very useful to you. With SEO you can drive your traffic and sales (or clicks as the case may be) up both consistently and permanently.

No matter what others have said about natural search engine traffic, it is a significant traffic source for many bloggers. Some blogger friends admit that search engines account for 30 – 60 percent of their entire blog traffic.

It is possible and recommended to diversify and avoid relying your business solely on one traffic source — and company, Google. However, search engine traffic converts and if you can get more of them to your site, and assuming everything is the same, you will increase the sales figures and revenue from ads.

The details about how search engine works may be beyond most of us — in search engines don’t reveal their exact algorithm — but the basic is not rocket science at all.

Here are 5 tips to help you grow search engine traffic. (If you are interested to learn more about SEO, I have a complete article series of blog SEO.

1. Know your keywords

Keywords are the building blocks of a blog and web site. Naturally, you should target just one keyword per blog post. Avoid creating content just for the sake of having the keyword on your blog. You should provide valuable content and impress the visitors. Only then will they consider subscribing to your content feed.

You should be thinking about what the visitors do on your site. Optimizing the result from the same amount of traffic is as important, if not more. But, I digress…

2. Optimize your blog design

You will be surprised that many bloggers claim their blog themes or templates as search engine friendly because the themes were advertised as such. Spend some time to check the template to make sure it has the right title tag, order of content, heading tags and so on.

Your time will be well spent. After all, it is most likely a one-time task. It may make a difference between ranking for long tail keywords and not getting found at all.

3. Restructure your site

Theming with silos is a great way to structure and divide your blog content into subtopics. Many SEO experts represent siloing as simple tiered content. They are quite similar in a few points but nevertheless you should thinking about making your content topics obvious to search engines.

Tiered content without proper linking doesn’t help build topic on your site. For instance, you should only link to a silo (or parent) instead of children cross another silo. Good practice avoids diluting the theme of your site or blog.

That can help rankings because once search engines think your blog is related to certain subtopic, you are going to get more long tail keywords for that subtopic.

4. Gain inbound links

There is more than one way to do it, from article marketing to link baiting, blog commenting, forum marketing and so on. When you are just starting out, every little tactic matters to grow your traffic level to a few hundreds a day.

Your aim is to reach more center of influence. Once you are at this level, every new post will result in a few more backlinks to your blog.

5. Patience

As the age of your domain increases, your blog will also be considered more valuable, especially if you keep it active throughout the time.

Search engine optimization doesn’t produce flood of traffic immediately but it is often worth the effort. Giving up too early in the process is one of the biggest reasons why people fail at this.

Another thing to keep in mind is that traffic from organic search grows gradually. As you target more keywords within your content and gain more authority through backlinks, you will only grow your traffic.

You may be surprised that after several years, I still notice growth in traffic to some of my blogs from search engines. It helps if you aim for the long haul and really drill deep in a niche, because that’s what a real business is.

My name is Franck Silvestre, I was a body guard (Some of my clients: Michael Jordan, Thierry Mugler, Many Top Models…). I was also a successful pizzeria owner, after one year, I sold it for a good profits, and I decided to travel since I really like that.

I am not what you can call an seo expert, yet I get top rankings on demand. And you know what is really crazy? I really don’t like seo!

And what’s really amazing is that my site is there for almost one year now. Obviously, Google love it!

You can download a free copy of my seo book here (the first chapter) if you are a beginner: Seo Secrets (right click and then save to your desktop)

I find seo so boring…

Anyway, when you are on a shoestring, you need to do it yourself, but once you make money, be sure to outsource everything.

Was it easy?

Humm, nothing is business is easy, only things that need to be done. Honestly, if you have a basic knowledge about SEO, you already have what it takes. You only need a PLAN. A proven roadmap and a Step by Step system.

If you really want it, you can do it. It doesn’t matter which keyword you are targeting. Here is why…

I’m a body guard and martial artist, and I recognize that my motivation is really high and that I always take massive action to get the results I want, but anyone should be able to do this.

Most sites on Goggle Top 10 are not updated that often (while your site will be updated daily if you are serious).

Many of those sites on Goggle Top 10 are sticky, however, they are not up to date when it come to SEO for several reasons:

They think that their position will not be shaked

They think that nobody will try to outrank them

They are not in business anymore

They are too busy, they have too many sites

They switched completely to paid advertising

They don’t care!

They are lazy…

They have too much money to waste time with SEO…

And other reasons that YOU know better than me.

The truth is that there isn’t only one way to get a top 10 ranking for your website on Google, there are many ways to do it.

Now, here is what I did to get on this first page:

1. I wrote 10 original articles and posted them on the site.

2. I got some links from authority sites like ebay and others.

3. I submitted articles to ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, articledashboard.com and a couple of other sites.

In the beginning I used to mass submit with Isnare.com, but I don’t do this anymore.

4. I added a blog to my site (this is the secret). It was on a subdirectory.

I really like this blog because it gives me backlinks and Google love. It’s also really easy to update.

5. I wrote more original articles and posted them to my sites.

6. I participated in forums and added my links as anchor text.

7. I used proper onpage optimization.

Hint: the most important is your title tag.

8. I exchanged a couple of links with top sites in my niche.

9. I submitted to free and paid directories.

10. That’s it.

Do you think it’s difficult?

No, it wasn’t.

Now for how long I will stay there?

Only God knows, I’m there for almost one year and I got many subscribers, sales, I receive product review requests, link exchange requests all the time…

It’s good to get a top 10 rankings, BUT you know what?

If you don’t know how to monetize your site, there’s no point to be there.

If a 14-year old like me made it to the frontpage of the bloody competitive keyword “Make Money Online,” Do you have a reason why you can’t?

No, SEO isn’t that hard really. All you have to do is know the basics and treat Google like a 3 year old boy looking for the cookie jar in a big kitchen.

Larry page once said:

Basically, our goal is to organize the world’s information and to make it universally accessible and useful.

That’s what the little boy wants then what do you do? You FEED it to him – Easily.

Just imagine beating your competitor with thousands of backlinks and you with let’s say a hundred or two. Just check out how this blog with 30k backlinks overtook Bidvertiser with over 3,000,000! Yes, those are 6 zeros.

I hope I got you excited (But not too excited that you peed). Here are the 7 Golden SEO tricks that will surely beat the hell out of your competition:

1. Proper Placement and Use of Header Tags

Take a look at the source code of my blog. You’ll see that only few lines after the body tag, the h1 tag is placed with the keywords I wanted to optimize. It gives Google an early decision of what this blog is about.

Also, using of too many header tags or too many words in a single header tag may raise the flag to Google. Limit your use of the same tag in one page. Try to vary it from h1 to h6.

2. Domain Canonicalization

I know. It’s complicated, hard to pronounce and spell.

People think URLS like www.domain.com and domain.com are all the same, but search engines don’t. You can actually make two different sites from those.

What you should do is canonicalize them. Choose one and leave the other so that Google won’t go nuts on what site to rank (Remember, he’s a 3 year old) and what site to give credit for the backlinks each has got.

Here’s how you can canonicalize your domain. Add this to your .htaccess or use this plugin if you’re on Wordpress.

3. Reduce Duplicate Content within Your Site

Wordpress creates duplicate content like a maniac. There are dupes in the trackbacks, feeds, categories, monthly archives and more.

When Google finds a site with duplicate content, they throw it in their trash bin called “The Supplemental Index” Where all less trusted articles are placed.

I guess you know that Google hates (Very much) duplicate content, so what if your site has a lot of pages under the supplemental index? There icouldi be a possibility that some of your pages would rank down than what it ranks normally.

A quick solution to this is by placing a robots.txt file in your site (See mine for example) to block search engines from indexing trackbacks, feeds, categories, archives where duplicate content lies.

4. Permalinks

What most people always forget when optimizing their site for search engines is their post permalinks. Most sites have numbered permalinks (e.g. /?p=123 or /002429.html) That obviously search engines won’t understand. Permalinks can be used to put it keywords about your post title. Convert those numbered permalinks into /post-title

Use dashes, they’re the best. Underscores are the next best. No space is worst – Matt Cutts.

5. Relevancy of Title And Meta Tags

Google got smarter, smarter to understand the difference of homonyms. Google now understands what you’re talking about.

He knows LSI – Latent Semantic Indexing.

Would you title a page “Dogs” if mostly you’re talking about cats? Of course not, it’s actually obvious. It’s harder to game Google now, so use the most relevant title and meta keywords to what your blog is talking about.

6. Keyword Density

Although yes, Google knows LSI, they still like the old fashion way of ranking pages by counting its density. BUT not too much… again, Google just got smarter.

Personally, I would allow 2-4% of the content to be the keywords.

7. The Right Way to Interlink Pages

When more and more content is added to your site, there will be times when you’ll be mentioning some of the topics you have covered before. A link from your own domain still counts as a backlink. Although it doesn’t count as much as from another site, it will surely help.

Of course, you can pump out the power of interlinking by using it with something more powerful – Anchor texts. Because what I have observed from other blogs when they interlink their posts is they use anchor texts like “The dog ate the cat (read it here)” You can change it by placing an anchor text like “Read how the dog ate the cat”

My BEST Tip

Don’t be afraid of trying things. Don’t be dumb enough to try it in your bread and butter either. Experiment, study then experiment again.

First of all, I have to be honest with you that I don’t totally care about Pagerank. I did a few months ago but when I realized that it was nothing but a number between 1 to 10, it stopped my obsession.

Think about a world without pagerank. No spamming, no blackhat guys, no linktrains, no linkbuying, no linkfarming and no stupid threads on DP people asking when the next pagerank update is. Well then here it is your long awaited pagerank update. It’s not what you expected, didn’t you?

It happened yesterday, October 24 when Google shattered the blogosphere. It was all around. Someone even made a comic strip about it.

Questions have been roaming around lately on what really happened and why did all these sites’ PR dropped. No one really knows, but here are my theories about it:

Text Links

It has been confirmed, yet people just tend to ignore it – and I’m one of those so here I am with PR 3 blog (from PR 4)

I understand why Google doesn’t let people buy and sell links, it’s for better results anyway. Just imagine if you search for something you really need and all you get are spammy sites plastered with ads and with no useful content, that would be hell.

So about an hour ago, I sent all my text link advertisers a confirmation email if it was ok for them that I add the nofollow attribute on their links. Although I don’t really sell link juice because all my ads are for traffic purposes only, it will be essential to put the “nofollow” tag in their links to be sure that Google won’t have a second thought on my site.

Blog Network Interlinking

Engadget’s PR drop down from 7 to 5, Autoblog’s was from 6 to 4, Problogger’s and Copyblogger’s dropped down from 6 to 4 too. Yes, they don’t sell links but in this instance what do they have in common?

Problogger and Copyblogger are all part of the b5media and for your info, b5media blogs are interlinked with each other. Though Problogger and Copyblogger don’t link to any of them but the whole network does. Same anchor text, links and etc. I bet they’re not doing it to game Google but who knows what Google thinks. Same with Engadget and Autoblog, it’s worse on their side because they link with each other. Meaning they’re giving reciprocal links which can be considered as a link farm.

Widget Bucks?

Shoemoney has a post about this. It started when a high profile blogger told him that one of the causes of PR drop on some blogs was the widget bucks. Due to the fact that you are not allowed to remove the Widget Bucks’s link on the widget, you’re considered linking to them – and they’re currently penalized (give their name a search and they’re nowhere to be seen in the SERP)

I guess they really pissed off Google about their TOS that says you’re not allowed to remove the backlink to their site on their widget

Back-links placed by Mpire in the HTML code must not be removed.

Haha… good one

Contests with Links

This could be one possibility. Launching contests especially if you have big prizes like what Darren recently did can attract hundreds of links. Google, as a robot will immediately flag you for that. You can be deflagged but it would be better if you inform them before you launch so no harm will be done.

Linkloves

In the Google webmaster guidelines, there’s a statement there which says that a single webpage’s reasonable number of active links is just below 100. Link loves, linktrains and group writing projects can be a little harmful if not moderated or posted with care.

Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).

Google just hates us

Almost all of the “make money online” blogs’ PR dropped from the recent update, is it possible that Google just hates us? Nahh… Be optimistic. At least all of the blogs in your niche has low PR’s, nothing changed. It’s all equal
