Emails I Won’t Probably Answer

By Carl On September 14, 2008 Under Marketing

When I got home after my Karate class, it was round 9PM. Like any ordinary day, I flip open my laptop and read some emails…

CLICK! As I open the first email – guess what? Someone’s frustrated at me. Uhhh… Why? I didn’t answer his email. Let’s just say mister x did some of these things…

  • Hi Carlos! - Oh c’mon guys, do some homework before sending me an email. I’m Carl Ocab, not Carlo, not Carlos and certainly not carlo cab!
  • Too formal - “Dear sirs/madam” Geesh, sounds like you’re gonna tell me that I won the lotto BUT I have to send ya money first before I can claim my prize. Congrats on that ;-)
  • Link exchange requests – “Hello, after going through your site, I believe that it’s beneficial for both of us to exchange links because my blog is top quality and my blog is PREDICTED to have PageRank 5 on the next update…” Argh, I’m getting tired of this…
  • Nothing is working Carl! – “I can’t make money online Carl! I’ve tried everything and I still can’t make any money – please give me the magic pill!” Meh.
  • Can I download your design? – Again, do some homework.
  • I found this great tool… Or is that click my affiliate link ya say?
  • We are a big company offering web services – And we have an email account that says @yahoo.com.

Let my rant be a lesson for ya

So yeah, mister x triggered this rant post with that single email – but nevertheless, let this be a lesson for ya when sending email to me and to others (Who wants to be called dear sirs?!).

Ta ta for now.

:D, I see that there are still a lot of fries out there trying to do this kind of useless act. But why would you feel weird being called sir? Isn’t it cool Sir Carl Ocab?

I guess formal words can kill the kid in you. It makes one look older. Besides, where’s the essence of being a kidblogger when you are called “Sir”. But one can’t deny that it’s a bit funny.

I don’t like the way describe the things in the above post. In fact I’m very sad about it.

For me “it’s the request” which is important not “the way” it has been made.

I am always ready to help others, it dose not matter much; they call me Sir, Sirs, shanker, shanks or whatever for that matter.

You need to learn some lessons from Darren Rowse – He always replies back regardless of how you request him.

“The way” you make requests is one of the most important aspects of communication.

Even though yes, it’s the request that really matter but most people are affected by how the request have been made (Whether you say it’s ethical or not) – so this post should serve as a lesson for both of us.

you cant blame them dude… your fullname is confusing.. “ocab” is a little unorthodox sounding.. ;-) if people wanted me to do link exchange, i often say I am selling links at the sidebar

Carl does have the right to reply or not to any email based on its content/formatting. I like that hes taken the time to write this post to inform his readers on the proper way to write him an email in order to get it read/ receive a response. This is something one will see with most businesses, etc.

    Cool post here, Carl!

You’re right! Who has the energy to open an email with all the formalities in it. An email should be cool, nowadays. It doesn’t have to be too tight and too lose. Just let the words flow and write what you know, not just the matter-of-fact stuffs.

No need to hate on the people that called you “Carlo Cab.” It’s just how people happen to read your name. I thought it was “Carlo Cab” until I looked at your banner.

Either way, keep up the good posts. I am 18 almost 19. Been blogging for about 10 months now. It’s great.

Haha. That was funny! I have seen many people spelling your name in the wrong way. That must have been pretty irritating.
