Google Chrome Philippines

I was one of the fortunate people who got invited to an exclusive Google Chrome event. It was just a short 1 hour event.

Most People Didn’t Know What Browsers Are

Google Southeast Asia marketing head, Derek Callow opened with a video of a survey they did. Basically they just asked random people on what is a browser.

It’s funny (although I can’t even technically describe what a browser is). Some people answered that a browser is “Google”.

Chrome Number 2 In The Philippines

Surprisingly, Google Chrome is the 2nd most used browser here in the Philippines:

The main purpose of the event was just to introduce some local Chrome apps like Cebu Pacific Flights, AyosDito and more.

They also invited some Chrome themes artists. Some cool ones were Electrolychee and Carlos Celdran.

Insider Photos

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to bring my camera that day (actually I didn’t intend to, I was just there to hang lol) but if you want to see some “insider photos” you could check out Aileen’s blog.

Aileen is the only Google representative here in the Philippines and I was very fortunate to get invited by her, so thank you Aileen :-)

To finish this off, here’s me clearing my cookies…

Got it in the event and bagged one home cause I think it was cool LOL.

You know when a company is huge when the company name is used for many things. What does browser mean? ~” Google”. I am going to go on the internet and “Google” something (it’s even a verb).

I don’t know if the Google Chrome is different in the Philippines than the US. I tried it and liked it but there were certain things that wouldn’t work with certain websites so I switched back to using Firefox.

    Oh yeah,

    Try asking the kids nowadays.

What’s an email? I’ll bet they’ll answer “Yahoo” =)) LOL.

    Nice cookie by the way.

hey Carl. You know its funny that Google has only one employee in the Philippines… Saw her once in an event of Entrepreneur Society in the Philippines, but never got the chance to meet her.

Hmmm… I wonder how much Google is paying her?

I think you should say, eating my Cookies :D Lol

    Anyway cool event!

And I agree with the first one – most people, particularly the elder ones are confused with the term browsers, search engines and other sorts of stuff related to computer and internet.

And the second one – When I first try Google Chrome, I’ve started to love it and use it most of the times when just browsing different blogs and sites. Its really fast and I really like its url bar that you can easily use to search on Google.

Lastly – Checked out the blog, cool pictures!

That is such a cute cake of google chrome hehe. I just do not know if it has the same features as Firefox like the tabs. Honestly, I have not tried Chrome yet.
