Need A Review About the Marketing Tools?

While I focus my reviews more on website reviews, this person by the name of “Hock” focuses himself on reviewing marketing tools. His blog is called Marketing Tools Review. What’s amazing is that his blog has a long history since 12th February 2004.

Now, let us watch my browsing review of his blog.

Blogging about internet marketing for 4 years is no joke!

He must have been through the old generations of internet marketing where everybody is still trying and finding out about making money online. Those days in 2004, I was still working on my physical business, and back then I had never thought internet business is a feasible business. Everybody has been trying to sell their one and only ebook online with that single long page down with the buy button at the bottom. I do buy some of the ebooks back then, and tried them myself with some earnings. But the earning was not attractive enough to make myself committed in the internet marketing.

Uneven length of pages

While he was concentrating on writing a lot in his “About Me” page, his other page “Advertise” was not written long enough to let the readers understand the benefits of advertising on his blog. Unless his blog is of certain recognition on the Internet already, I believe a simple self-promotion might be useful to assist in bringing more revenue for his blog. Also, I am sorry if I wasn’t able to catch his name in the “About Me” page, I don’t know his name until I saw some of his comments in his blog.

Good long listing of his many posts over the years

One good thing about his page is that he bothered to have two separate menus “Sitemap” and “Post Archives” to help us better navigate his blog posts deeper. Blogging has a common problem of showing past results especially those with many years back.

In his sitemap, he shows a listing of post titles under his many categories. That will help us navigate the posts which is filed under a hot topic (or category) we are interested to find out more about.

And in his post archives, it is basically a listing of his posts under different months. It shows us a lot about the kind of posts he writes on different days, and also let us know roughly his post frequency so as to help us determine if this blog is still kicking and alive in the coming more weeks and months ahead.

Charitable Blogger

I seldom see posts from bloggers giving link loves to other bloggers in need of money because of family emergency. Such a blog post dedicated to link to a blogger and asking his readers to donate is something worth mentioning about. Find out more about this post.

My Feel About His Real Niche

While he is focusing his blog on reviewing marketing tools, it is actually his aged blog which is the real niche. Seldom do I see or hear any other Make Money Online blogs which were born in 2004. Hence, you will find out how internet marketing has been evolving over the past four years just by reading his blog. I can still remember the first time I got my hand on gmail account in May 2004 as you can only get one account strictly by invitation. Just look at his blog post about his excitement he shared for getting his gmail account. It’s the same kind of joy I had when we are offered with email space of 1GB. Those days if I am not wrong, websites can only offer any space less than 100mb.

As I have mentioned, his niche is with discussing his path of online entrepreneurship over the last four years. It’s never easy to keep working on it for so long, and I wonder if he have placed any advertisements on his blog other than doing paid reviews. But looking from the surface, I have a gut feeling that this website should be attracting pretty good amount of traffic with low bounce rate because of the few pointers:

1. This blog has a long history to be recognized by google for its credibility.
2. This blog has been writing its history since Feb 2004 for any reader to know that it revealed some traits of the history about online marketing.
3. This blog has got a Page Rank of 4 which proves visibly about his credentials.
4. Not much advertisement (or maybe zero ads), but it has an email capturing newsletter on the right. It shows how a reader might be thinking before leaving his website.
5. Reading through the posts, you can feel how genuine the blogger is in his articles.

Good Reviewing Skills

I must say he does write good website reviews. Take a look at his recent review. He has a good mix of reviewing skills, talking partly on the technical side of the website as well as the marketing point of view and its contents. He gives screenshots in his review to show the various specific parts that he wishes to point out for his readers to see. And with his experience in online marketing, he is definitely having an even bigger picture about the kind of websites that work as well as fail. In short, Hock is somebody who is worth listening to for advices.

Ok, let me do some concluding over here. Hock has done a pretty good blog, especially with his contents over the four years. In my opinion, probably he might want to look into adding image ads and text link ads in his blog to attract some private advertisers to take up. And with some modification with his “Advertise On This Website” page to talk about some of the benefits of advertising on this blog, he should be able to bring in even more income for his blog since I can safely presume that he has a steady flow of traffic into his website by now.

Also as mentioned earlier, he has a good reviewing skills to learn from. Keep it up! :)
