Sometimes, Things Just Get Out Of Control
It’s unusual to say the least…
Last month, when we were on our way to the beach, my mom’s cell phone rang. It’s not really out of the blue because my mom has an event organizing business so a lot of people would call her from time to time.
But this time, it scared me.
“Hello? Ah, this is from Carl’s school?” My mom answered.
My heart started pumping like I was running on a treadmill for 15kph. They talked for like 5 minutes and after my mom hanged up, there was sudden silence.
My mom didn’t say a thing.
So just an icebreaker, I asked “What are we going to do first at the beach?”
That didn’t turned out well, to make the long story short – I failed in 3 subjects and I am going to summer school.
Then just last week, my dad and I talked about it. It was a long talk, one of the talks that make you sweat and think about random things while listening because it was very serious.
The big sad news is…
I’m forced to sign up for the army.
I don’t like it, but they made me do it to discipline myself I guess. I’ll be starting next week so I’ve got everything ready right beside me, my luggage, everything.
Right now, I’m going my best to think of anything positive but as much to my dismay – I can’t.
I am also opening this blog for bidding as I can’t pursue with my online career anymore. The bidding will start at $50,000. If you are interested, comment below with your bid or email me at carl@carlocab.com if you want to bid privately. I’ll just comment your bid below to keep people updated.
This is probably the hardest thing I’ve done because I’m giving up an empire that I’ve already built and fortified.
Also my company, RichKidMedia has been aquired by a local online company. I have 20% stocks though so I have something to keep me making money through the years.
I would like to thank everyone for being with me on this great journey. I would like to thank my mentor, Joel Christopher for guiding me, my parents for giving me the disicipline and God for giving me this oppurtunity.
I think, that’s it, no words can explain what I’m really feeling right now.
Update, April 11, 2009 8:01 PM: SOLD – Winner’s bid was an old $1 coin and a red sock.

If you’re serious about the military, consider this before you sign anything: in every branch of the military there are 2 classes (the Navy has a 3rd) of people:
ENLISTED = lower pay, less administration opportunities, harder (physical) work, less stress (UNLESS you’re in a combat zone).
OFFICERS = higher pay, mostly administration opportunities, easier (cerebral) work, more stress (in and out of combat zones).
Almost all of the enlisted personnel in the Army and Marines have ample, one-on-one opportunities to get shot at (as do low ranking officers). People in these branches of the military have the highest chances of dying. Some skills are marketable in the civilian world, but not all. (Not too many businesses hire people to carry assault rifles and wear body armor all day.) Enlisted personnel get to travel, but Afghanistan, Iraq, and South Korea aren’t exactly the “most desirable” tourist locations. 99% of the people in these 2 services are stationed in a combat zone (or theater of combat) within the first 3 years of joining up.
Next, almost all of the enlisted personnel and officers in the Coast Guard serve their entire career inside the US. They may get shot at, but they’re usually quite safe. Many skills are marketable in the civilian world when you’re done, and travel all across the US is normal (there are a few overseas positions, but not many).
Very few of the enlisted personnel in the Air Force and Navy ever see any type of combat up close. Generally, these are the safest jobs in the military, plus they have the most marketable skills (to take with you to the civilian world when you’re done). Lots of opportunity to travel all over the world, and much less likely to be stationed in a combat zone. Of all the services, the Air Force has the nicest bases at which to be stationed — not many drawbacks with them, except they’re the hardest to get into. The Navy has the very best food, but they are usually at sea for half of their career (or more), so it’s hard to keep a family together in the Navy.
The people in the Air Force and Navy that see the most combat are pilots & navigators (Officers). They get paid a lot more money to risk their lives than the “grunts” serving in the Army and Marines. If you want to get shot at, this is the safest route, pays the best, and the skills are highly marketable.
All of the services can use new recruits, all offer good discipline, and none “look bad” on a resumé. Consider the risks, rewards, and what you want from your service — before you decide which service to join.

Carl you’re too young to go in the army, I thought you were like 14 or 15? What age to they accept new enlistees in the Philippines? You should just take the GED or whatever they may call it out in PI then blog full time. The purpose of school is to educate you on how to run a successful business, and you already have one.

Hi Carl,
Army is good but is also bad, you want to know why, you see in Singapore for those who study very high with a diploma, most sign on for army for about 10 years for minimum.
And guess why they do so, cos they can get an official rank which many had to respect them for that. Yes they got respects in Army but when they are outside, they know nothing about living in a real world.
That’s the bad part of army, now for the good part, and that is you learn to take action even if you don’t like it, which in terms train your mind and your body to do stuff that you think you won’t do.
Anyway I think in Singapore most young official do not had a good future after all…
I really hope you to come back after your army and start a blog that says “Make Money Online With A Fresh Out Soldier”
The Bad Blogger

Is this really true? Carl you are a successful young blogger. Why is that your parent wants to stop on this business? You’ve gone to school to have a better life in the future yet your parent wants to stop your success in this situation. Or are you trying to fool us. You make my heart explode from pumping. If you are really serious with this, my bid is $0.01
Thanks for the informations you’ve shared. Good luck your new career and God bless you…

..That certainly through me for a loop..but then again if a teenager makes enough money to support his/herself then they can always legally separate yourself and become a full independent person..
