Tips On How To Launch Your Blog Successfully

By ganeshsrinivas Under Blogging

This article is guest posted by Ganesh from Blog Smartly.

If you’ve ever started a WordPress blog before, you know how it feels. Its exciting to launch a new blog. Most of you jump when you get that inspiration and start your new blog right away. Slow down. You need to prepare well in advance before launching your blog. Here are some tips on how to make your blog launch successful.

Map Your Goals

Think. Ask yourself why you are starting the blog. What are your goals? Do you want to make money? How much time are you going to spend on your blog? Ask yourself all these questions. Goals are very important for achieving milestones. Just breakdown bigger goals into smaller ones and challenge yourself to accomplish them within a period of time. Its better to write them down in a notebook or something. Take some time to write some articles for your blog well in advance.

Blog Design

The blog design is the most important aspect of a blog. It has to look attractive and professional. Take some time to check out good theme or get a custom theme designed for your blog. Get all the logos, gravatars, favicons, banners ready so that you can promote your blog effectively. A well designed blog stands out to the visitor.

Use a Domain Parking Theme

It is best to install WordPress as soon as you get the domain. If you just leave your domain as it is, your domain company would will turn it into an ad farm. Install the Launchpad theme for WordPress. It is a domain parking theme that informs the visitor that the blog is about to launch soon and allows them to subscribe via RSS and email. Its pretty nice and professional too.

Networking

Use networking to get traffic for your blog when it launches. If you’re an active participant in some of the social media sites, then it could be a big plus for you. Although I’m suggesting you to use sites like Twitter and Plurk to promote your site, I don’t recommend using them solely for promoting your blog since that would look spammy. I also recommend using forums for promoting your blog.

I also found out that commenting on other blogs is a great way to promote your site. Remember, the blogosphere is a big community. No blogger is an island. Connect with other bloggers, read and comment on their blogs and they will surely return the favor.

Contests

You know that bloggers hold contests to promote their blogs. So why not hold one before you launch the blog too? After all, it only makes your blog more popular. You can hold a small contest and give away a small prize, lets say $20 cash, one among those who subscribe to your blog so that it creates some buzz. You can use forums to spread the word about your contest.

Conclusion

If all this sounds like nonsense, let me sum up everything you need to know – Plan well and launch your blog in a professional way. Leverage the power of social media sites to promote your site. Impress your visitors and convert them into loyal readers.

All the best!

Awesome post. the domain Parking theme would help you a lot for getting RSS subscribers for your blog before launch. And even a pre launch contest would help you a lot in getting quick readers

    Hi,

Thanks for the great tips. I have one question. How can I redirect my blog – http://internet-business-world.blogspot.com to a regular domain name but still keep all of the features that the blog has?

    Thanks

I have definitely found that doing some type of give-a-way or contest seems to create buzz and is worth whatever prize or cash you give away.

Great tips! I think a blog launch last a lot longer than the first week or month of a blog. Launch mean to get something off the ground, and to really get a blog into the air it takes a good six months.

  6. All this sounds like good advice. I especially like using social media sites like Twitter, Youtube, StumbleUpon, Blog catalog etc. To promote blogs.

These are the overall things people should pay attention when they want to start a blog,
but whatever it is… if you want to try, no matter what platform, you’ll find yourself a way to blog which experience will teach you. Networking is the most important thing if you plan to blog, and of course if you can swip out some great content.

The techniques mentioned in this blog are quite useful and easy to follow. I do not feel that there should be any difficulty in following any of these if one is a serious blogger.

I like it, a great to-the-point post on starting a blog. I love that you highly recommend Twitter. If it wasn’t for Twitter I don’t think my websites would be as successful.

    Great post, very informative.

I agree with almost everything you’ve had to say except about the theme being the most important aspect of the blog as I know very successful blogs with not very attractive themes and I think that quality content is the most important.

Other than that, I think those are all great to help launch a successful blog.

I follow most of these but I’ve never heard of the parking theme before, that’s really great and I’ve got a few domains/future blogs that I’ll be using that on from now on.

  22. Nice little piece of information! Congrats man! Oh and by the way I just listened to the interview you did with Joel Christopher. it’s killer info! just killer!

Thanks for sharing all that valuable information. And one more thing I wanted to ask you. You said you used various tactics to get backlinks to your site. What are the most valuable tips for getting backlinks?

Hi Carl, thanks for sharing this thought on how to put an online business blog, even though I already launch my blog and I read so many advice from different Gurus, but it’s still a help to read other advices, specially to those who are successful in doing this endeavor. Again bro, thanks and keep it up.
