“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews? 10:23? NIV??
I’m the newest member of the team. I graduated May 2018 and back then I didn’t know what was next for me. For months, I got stuck at home not knowing which career path to take. I’m an International Studies major and thoughts of applying as a flight attendant, going to a flying school, and working in the government kept lingering in my mind.
I was starting to get frustrated since I’ve been seeing a lot of my batch mates get jobs and earn while I was still asking for money from my parents whenever I needed to show up for job interviews. Unfortunately for me, all these job interviews only led me to even more frustrations.
But one night, when I couldn’t sleep, and as I was scrolling through Instagram, I impulsively decided to look for a job by searching for #JobOpeningPH and#HiringPH. Luckily, I found CODM’s Instagram post about their need for a content writer. The post was dated April 4th of this year, 2019. I was hesitant to send my application and at the back of my mind, I was thinking, “they might have already hired someone, considering that it’s graduation season.” The opportunity was there, I just had to click send.
Three days later I got called in for an interview. A few days after the interview, I was offered the job. I was overwhelmed. I didn’t know what to feel. For a moment, I felt unqualified because I knew nothing about content writing. I was merely a creative writer back in high school, nothing more than that. Nonetheless, the first thing I did was to thank God, because there was a reason for my waiting. And indeed, He who promised is faithful. Now I’m the newest member of the team, a few weeks in and I think I’ve already found my second family.
My job is not easy. From time to time, I’d still question myself why on earth I applied for this job. But it’s worth it. Because writing doesn’t just end in writing alone. When I write, I also learn from the things I write about. At first it can get pretty intimidating, with information bombarding my head, but I’ll get used to it. I’m just thankful that I’ve found this job, and this family. There’s nothing better than getting to do my job in an environment like this.
