SEO Analysis of Carlocab.com

By David Elefant on October 3, 2007

I thought it would be interesting to do an SEO analysis of Carl’s blog. Carl has optimized his blog for the keyword “Make Money Online”. As of today, October 3, 2007 http://www.carlocab.com ranks No.2 in Google and No.13 in Yahoo for “Make Money Online”.

The blog also ranks well for other variations of the three keywords:

- “money online make” No. 1 in Google, No. 4 in Yahoo.
- “online make money” No. 2 in Google, No. 4 in Yahoo.

Backlinks - Google reports 358 backlinks
I was only able to find the main keywords in 2 Anchor Text Links of the top ten backlinks.

The PR of the top 30 web sites that link back are:
1 = PR 7
4 = PR 6
4 = PR 5
10 = PR 4
4 = PR 3
2 = PR 2
1 = PR 1
4 = NA

Very Good! Carl has worked hard at getting backlinks from sites with high PR.
The keyword density for “Make Money Online” in the blog is 4.8% which is generally thought to be in the optimal Keyword Density range.

Keywords are not found in the domain name. Nothing can be done about this.

One h1 tag includes the keywords. This gives extra points.

The Meta Description, Img “Alt” Attribute and Meta Keywords all contain at least one mention of the targeted keyword. Well done.

Out of a total of 152 links on the site 7 contain the chosen keywords. Good.

The Alexa Rank is 35227 and the Trend is up 17%.

Our conclusion as time goes by Carl should be able to continue ranking high for his chosen keywords.

General suggestions for Carlo to keep ahead of the competition:

- Add more backlinks with anchor text link containing the targeted keywords.
- Try to limit the outbound links. Have more Img “Alt” Attributes containing the keywords.
- Do not share the IP address with other domains.

As a special favor for 10 readers of Carl’s blog, I am ready to do a similar analysis. Look for a post about this on my blog as soon as this post is approved. Just comment with your blog url and your chosen keywords.

There is no general optimal keyword density percentage.

Just use your keywords naturally in your copy and go with a natural flow, don’t try to cram in additional keyword/phrases just to get to a certain percentage.

Optimal keyword density percentage is just one of those SEO self perpetuating myths.

Don’t believe everything you’re being told, like in the above post.
Heck…don’t believe what i am saying ;) - Research it and you’ll come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a optimal keyword density percentage.

If that was the case then all #1 SERP’s would have matching percentages with small discrepancies at best.
As you can test out for yourself this just isn’t true.

Keep it up Carlo :cool:

Awesome job getting the top spot for the phrase make money online! That is great! You are doing a great job with your content, and Ed is right on above when he says there is no real optimal percentage for keyword density. You just don’t want to have a density that is way too high. Basically if the content makes sense after you read it, and you have the keyword incorporated within the content you are great! This tip was not for you, but for your readers.
