I don’t like to utilize Facebook for SEO, because only Facebook makes money in ads. Unlike Google, who allows bloggers to make money through adsense. I’d better sign up in Google+

I don’t even have a facebook page yet. It seems that facebook pages rank well in search engines, but I guess it would be more difficult to rank for competitive niches like IM for example.

According to Matt Cutts, the new algorithms will give weight to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, especially if they are authority sites.
BUT, it won’t work if the FB page has too little traffic or the Twitter account isn’t very influential.
By the way, FB pages are NoFollow. It doesn’t give you any link juice. However, it still delivers traffic to your page so it’s still useful. And it gives signals that your website can be trusted.
