Huge Blog Network? Why Not Hire Bloggers?

By Carl On July 31, 2007 7 Comments

If you're new here, you really should subscribe to my blog's Full RSS feed for FREE! You don't want to miss informative posts! Thanks!

Stress from Blogging - Hire bloggers to Make MORE Money OnlineRecently, I had a chat with my friend who is a full time blogger and blogs on about 5-10 blogs everyday. Even though he told me that he earns $x,xxx monthly with his blogs, I still have a doubt that it wasn’t a good idea.

Why? Simple answer – “stress”, Having 10 blogs is no joke, it’s just like having 10 children that needs to be fed, loved and give some special attention to each. Of course, with all those problems, a parent needs some help. A baby sitter for example or a “nanny”.

Your attention for each blog will be divided. This means your posts quality will decrease also and even your blog’s performance.

This kept me thinking, why do I STILL see thousands of bloggers write for their own blog network everyday. In fact, if you hire bloggers, you can even grow big and be like weblogs inc. or something like that.

So why? Is it because you love blogging? Is it because you lack funds? Is it because you trust yourself more? Is it because you’re a one man band? Why?

I want to ask this person who I know blogs on more than 15+ blogs everyday. What do you think Sir Darren?

Top 10 Emerging Influential Filipino Blogs in 2007

By Carl On July 28, 2007 5 Comments

emerging from tunnel | emerging blogsJanette over at Digitalfilipino has an interesting meme called “Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007“. I have been observing this meme months ago because many voted my blog as one, and currently my blog ranks top 2 with 21 mentions!

There will be also an eyeball this August 1, all who participated in the meme is invited. Of course it will be held here in the Philippines, I’m very excited to attend so I can see some of my friends in the pinoy blogosphere.

Anyway… Today, I’m gonna feature my Top 10 Emerging Influential Filipino Blogs. So, who will it be? Will it be you?

First of…

Pinoy Blogero – A blog that only started last month but with a growing community, I certainly put Karlo’s blog in the first place! (Oh yea, Karlo is also an avid reader of carlocab dot com, so thanks!)

Culture Shiok- Like Singapore? Let a Singapore OFW tell his stories on his adventure in the land of Singapore. (Woot, another reader of carlocab dot com)

Macuha – A blog of a laugh charm, Marhgil 3rd place winner of our last local SEO contest blog about random things, yeah… check out his about page. It might give you a laugh ;)

Robinson Go - Just started this may 5 but now averaging 700 feedreaders, I’m a little intrigued by this guy. Because he doesn’t receive that much comments but still reached a mile with his feed count.

Pinoy Ambisyoso – Well, let’ just say that this guy, is just a plain but PROUD pinoy!

Kubiertos – Make Food Online? Now this is a blog for you, kubiertos is one of my favorite bloggers in the pinoy blogosphere just because – he blogs about food!

Anito Kid – Anito kid, a billiards champion that talks about Philippine sports and some famous sportsman here in the phililippines like Efren Bata Reyes (Billiards Champ) Manny Pacquiao (Boxing) and etc…

Racoma – A sexy mommy blogger? And a freelancer? AND a blogger? Now that is a modern mom!

Utak Gago – He’s a college student from UPLB, not much really… just his personal story in a more creative way. BTW, utak means brain and gago, is a bad word :D

Last but certainly not the least:

Make Money Online with a 13-year old – I can’t be wrong on this one :P

Help me reach the no. 1 spot by making a post also and voting for me! Thanks ;)

Why Internet Marketers Should Take Drama Classes

By Carl On July 25, 2007 Comments Off

Rich Jerk, Drama classes internet marketingHave you ever wondered why rich jerk uses a cartoon image in his header instead of his own picture like what thousands of internet marketers do? Have you ever wondered why that pesky cartoon is darn pesky? Have you ever wondered those?

I’ll bet most of you DON’T!

This afternoon, we took Japanese plays and dramas in our English class, you know, those with kimonos and the like. And as usual, that gave me another idea (I really don’t know why and how, but it just pops out in my mind!)

Why internet marketers should take drama classes.

Let’s take the time machine and take a look how popular the rich jerk was a year ago. He’s the guy who made copywriting into a new filthy like way, scolding people to make them buy his stuff. He’s the guy who made internet marketers world turn upside down. He’s the guy who made millions in just ONE book!

How did he do that? Apart from his record (sold a site on ebay for like $300,000+) did you know that that filthy cartoon image that makes a filthy bad sign, did a heck of a job?! That cartoon was the one PLAYING as the “rich jerk” not Kelly Felix itself, it helped Kelly make his e-book unique by using a character in his letter.

Yes, that’s it. Lesson for today is: Be unique. Geesh, I’ve said that tons of times already but yet, it’s the best marketing strategy!

What I Learned from our School Retreat about Posting Frequency and Scheduled posts

By Carl On July 24, 2007 Comments Off

Last week, we had our school retreat. I really had fun talking with my friends and enjoying the freewill. LOL, though our teacher and the priests gave us free time in the afternoon and in the evening, they were pretty darn strict about sessions, Scheduled sessions. I mean, wow! They won’t even pass a minute just to follow the schedule.

So, after our sessions, our teacher would give us free time to fix things and relax. But I kept thinking about my blog and what will happen to it. Honestly, funny things run in my mind that time because I won’t be able to check many things… (So that’s the life without internet!)

Anyway, it’s pretty funny why I made a post in our school retreat.

Posting frequency, what is the best for you? I can’t decide by myself if it’s either 1 post per day or 3 or 2 or 4. So I need your opinion, how much posts should a blog generate per day?

Here’s a poll:

How many articles should a blog post per day?

After a week or two, I’ll follow up this post with explanations and results.

PPC Landing Page Guidelines

By Carl On July 14, 2007 1 Comment

Here are some GOOD rules to follow when creating your Pay Per Click Advertisements and Driving Users to your Site Landing Pages!

1. Always Provide Quality, Substantial and Relevant Content!

When a user clicks on your Pay Per Click Ad and does not quickly see what they are looking for, they will leave your site frustrated and it just cost you MONEY! Try to stay within these boundaries and minimize “Bounce Rate”

Link to pages on your web site that will provide the most useful, relevant and accurate content about the service or product in your advertisement.Try to provide content without registration requirements, or provide a preview of what they’ll get by signing up!In general, build your site so it will provide useful and substantial content to the user. If your landing page consists of mostly advertisements or search results, you should give as much detailed information as you can beyond what your advertisement describes. For example, if your advertisement mentions (’Free Disney Tickets,’ your landing page should feature Free Disney Ticket Information) rather than putting them on a page with a list of sites that do).

2. Protect your Users Information

Most users are always worried about their personal information such as Name, Telephone Number and eMail Address. To keep your users happy, provide them with the answers that will keep them happy and stick to them!

Why you might collect personal info?
How you might use their info?
Does the user have options to limit their info?

Even though my Search Engine Marketing site doesn’t collect any personal information other than when a user leaves a comment, I have still dedicated a Privacy Policy and Disclaimer Page to answer their questions up front!

3. Create a site that is easy to navigate

Your goal to turn visitors into customers starts with getting them what they want, easily and quickly. Since thats not always enough then hold their hand through the transaction!

Give them an easy way to purchase or get the offer in your advertisement.

Stay away from pop-ups, having to use the back button or other obtrusive processes to their experience.

With these 3 tips, you start to convert those PPC Visitors into PPC Customers!

What is Canonical URL? How to Clean Canonical URL’s and Reduce Duplicate Content

By Carl On July 12, 2007 1 Comment

Sorry for the lack of posts for the last few days guys. I was making new sites. You know diversifying ;)

Anyway, I’m glad to tell you that all this “site making scheme” gave me another SEO lesson. It’s duplicate content. Not the ordinary duplicate content most people know (Copying articles from another site) but duplicate content within your site. Yes, duplicate content WITHIN your site.

What’s Canonical URL’s?

Cannon

No, not that

Cannon in D

that either

Canon Camera

Errr?

Grand Canyon

What the heck?!

How come that happens?

Google is not that smart – yet. Google is not your math teacher that wants to answer challenge questions. Google is like your little brother looking for his toys. Google wants you to feed them with information so they can eat it.

But like your bro, they don’t want ice cream over and over again, that makes their stomach ache and their teeth. So the extra waste goes down the drain or in the trash (Results in the supplemental index)

No literally, what is Canonical URL?

As Wikipedia stated:

Canonicalization is a process for converting data that has more than one possible representation into a “standard” canonical representation.

So, Canonical + URL (Uniform Resource Locator) = Duplicate Content = More supplemental results = less Google lovin’

Examples of Canonical URL’s are:

Example.com/

www.example.com
example.com/index.html
www.example.com/index.html

And many more combinations!

So, how do I clean my Canonical URL, so I get one URL representation only?

Well, you can edit your .htaccess file in the root of your site and add these lines if you want your site to use www:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Then upload it. That’s it. No more extra ice cream, err! pesky duplicate content on your websites
