Everyone has those times when blogging just seems to get so much harder. The posts are not coming as easily as they used too, in fact they are not really coming at all. You just seem to have no inspiration at all.

I know exactly what this feels like. You will be going along fine, getting blog post ideas from the most random situations – they just seem to come out of nowher, and you don’t even have to worry about where the next post will come from, cause you have so many ideas. Then suddenly it all comes to a grinding halt. The well of inspiration dries up and you are left with a blog that is slowly dying away.

Ok, maybe a bit too much over dramatization but here are 5 ways to break your blogging drought.

  1. Other Blogs
Have you still been reading up on the latest happenings in your niche? Because this alone should get the ideas rolling. I find that when I am stuggling to get new post ideas, it is usually because I have stopped visiting blogs.

  2. Forums
Are you a member of forums related to your blogs niche? If you are not, I strongly recommend you find some to join. Forums are a great place for you to find out what the hot topics of your niche are at the moment. Find out what people are talking about and then blog about it.
  3. Google?
We use Google for everything else. Why not to find new blog post topics? This is as simple as just typing your blog niche into Google and seeing what the results are. Visit a couple of the websites and see what they are talking about. This is sure to get your brain ticking.
  4. Stop Trying So Hard
What I have found is that when I sit at my computer and try and write a blog post – it never happens. I just never seem inspired whenever I sit down to write. My post ideas usually come when I am going for a walk or even when I am at work. So stop trying to force your posts out and just take a break and let them come naturally.
  5. All Else Fails, Just Write For The Search Engines
If you cannot think of anything to write for your readers then start focusing of search engine traffic. Find a program like Micro Niche Finder or a similar website that tells you how many searches a phrase gets and start writing articles based on highly searched phrases in your niche – and who knows, this might get your creative juices flowing for new post ideas.

I Don’t Wanna Grow Up

By Carl On June 21, 2008 16 Comments

For those who still don’t know yet – I’m already 15. Wow! I’ve grown 2 years older since I started this blog – man, it’s a breathless ride!

Like last year, I celebrated my birthday with a contest. Instead of you giving me gifts, it’s me who’s giving back. But my close friend Charles, who is doing the sponsored reviews for me didn’t pass up the chance to give something – he sent me this cool tee from SnorgTees

Fits like a charm! Thanks again Charles. I think the ball blends well with the shirt so I snugged it beside me, heh.

Of course, I’m always open for gifts. If you are feeling generous too, contact me and I’ll give you the details you need ;-)

How I’ve Improved My Life By Creating 3 Simple Habits

By JamesBlogger On June 17, 2008 8 Comments

This article is guest posted by James Blogger.

I define thought habits, a.k.a. mental habits, as being thought trails that you regularly (as in habitually) travel down. An example of a thought habit you might have may be accidentally leaving it too late to indicate while driving, or interrupting others’ conversations. Annoying thought habits can be accidentally developed through our lives, but we can also purposefully develop habits that can benefit us and improve our lives.

In these past few months, I’ve concentrated on building up three major thought habits:

1. I have as much right as everybody else

I used to be a pushover. Not in your regular, considerate way, but more your “oh, it’s ok if my living is somehow harming you; I’ll just go kill myself” way. Believe me, it was not a great way to be. So I started to consciously continually follow three simple steps in my life to develop my thought habit that allows me to stand up for myself and be assertive:

  • Define what is aggressive or rude, define what is wrongly weak, and pick the assertive alternative to the two.
  • Closely observe the consequent events
  • Review if what I did was right

Eventually this pattern set in as being habitual, and today, several months later, I am a much more assertive person, and am so much happier because of it.

2. Keeping tidy

This may sound strange, but your parents were right when they said you should keep your room tidy; it does make a real difference. I’ve always lived messily, but I’ve found that cleaning up my work area (that could mean your office, room, house, wherever you’re working and/or living) is great at clearing your head, allowing you do think clearer and more concisely. It greatly improves your productivity because you become more focused.

But it’s not just a “I’ll clean up now and then” thing, you really do have to drill it into your mind to have a place for everything, and when you take something from its place to put it back. Coming for a background of being a messy kid, it’s been surprisingly difficult; but I do believe I’ve (somewhat) mastered this in the past few months. It has really helped me, and it can also help you.

3. If I want to be treated as special, I need to treat others as being special

All of the major religions in the world – Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, etc. – have the same golden rule. “Treat others how you want to be treated”. This rule plays true in all areas of life… and is able to be played with. Other universal rules (”what goes around, comes around”, the theory of Karma, yin/yang) are also very similar, with the same general message; your life is only as good as you make it.

Take advantage of it, I say! Be good to the world, and you will feel all the better for it.

James Blogger loves to blog about the internet and life and how to “do well with it”. He’s a rookie web designer, and general all-round observer of the internet. James Blogger believes that good things come to those who work for them.

Your Blog And Your Brand

By Melvin On June 16, 2008 11 Comments

This article is guest posted by Melvin.

I know many people are blogging for the sake of money. But many people are blogging too just for the sake of sharing what they want to. In short, they do blogging because this already a part of them, a part of you. But it’s really sad how people forget to brand their blog. Many people just put up a blog, get a free theme, make posts and publish. They don’t care if their template is the same with someone or they’re blog is not unique. This is the truth that people should understand. Blogs represent themselves and every part of it is all about you, yes YOU!

That’s why Carl ordered a custom theme and logo. It’s about how you will make yourself stand out from others. It’s not really about making your’s making better than theirs but its more of being unique. People will more likely appreciate you if you are unique. So going back to branding your blog here are things that I have compiled to help you become better with others.

  1. Buy a theme! This is the most basic thus far. I’m not saying that you should head on and order a custom theme that worths $1000. What I mean is there are pretty much of great themes out there that is customizable. If you don’t have the money then there’s always someone there to help you for a cheap price.
  2. Logo. I know a logo is expensive as well. Big problem? Not quite. Head on to Digital Point Forums Contest Section and run a contest there about your logo. The price oftentimes is just $10 to $20 and the quality is very high. That’s why when someone told me to get a logo, I immediately get one for my blog
  3. Favicon. Many are forgetting to use a favicon. This is literally just an icon on the side of your URL. This one also makes you different from each other. You can do it your self or you can get someone to do it for you.
  4. Gravatars. This one can be optional. Gravatars are basically you’re picture when you comment on sites. Most sites run a gravatar plugin to their commenting system. You can see how much traffic shoemoney got from his gravatar alone on digital point forums.

Are Domain Names Still A Money Maker?

By CJohnson On June 14, 2008 8 Comments

This article is guest posted by Christopher Johnson.

The short answer is yes. The long answer is a bit more complicated. Used to be, you could just register any old name and someone would come along and buy it from you for ridiculous amounts of money, especially if you were squatting on a copy written domain name. But that was before. Now they have laws that protect intellectual property from being used like that, and many of the good names have been taken. So what to do? Here are some useful ideas and tips on how to monetize your domain portfolio:

1. First thing’s first.

Choose your domain name. This should be done by researching a niche market, and finding a name that is either still available, or about to expire, be careful to check that the name isn’t copy written first. i say niche market, and many of you are probably going, “why not just get a variation on the most popular searches out there?” Because, those markets are hard to break into. I own four domain names, one for jobs in California, one for couture style clothing (hey don’t laugh, it’s just business), one about beer, and one that is an adult domain name. The one for California jobs has received the most hits, the couture one next, followed by the one about beer, and the adult domain was a DISTANT last, as the market for that is literally flooded with domain names. Pick a niche you know people have interest in.

2. Find out, within that niche, what people are searching for.

You want your domain to be immediately associated with that search, so use Google Trends to find out what key words and what synonyms of key words people are actually typing in, then use the most popular. In this instance, past the domain name category, with key words more popular is better. This will ensure that your site comes up more often in the searches performed most often by your target market.

3. Pick a good registrar.

My money so far has been on GoDaddy, not just for the prices ( and a simple Google search for “GoDaddy discount codes” will get you money off), but also because their back office is really clean and easy to use.

4. Be open to sales.

Sell the domain name when the price is right, but be patient also. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your fortune. Some may even be complete duds, so be sure to ask some friends if they think it would be a name they would buy before you purchase it.

5. Don’t just sit there, do something. Great, you bought it.

You are now the proud owner of a domain name that doesn’t go anywhere and no one knows about. Park the domain. Parking is when you set your domain name’s name servers to a different site like my favorite Name Drive. They have really nice templates that look like actual sites and a decent payout rate. If not Name Drive, check out Sedo. There is also They then populate the template with adds and people click on them. That is they will once you promote the domain names. For my money, you can’t beat free, so check out Web CEO. This tool submits your contact info, as well as your URL to tons of search engines in one shot, and helps you optimize your other sites, too.

6. Lastly, be patient.

This may take a while and you may need to buy a bunch of domain names before you hit on some winners. In this business, the greatest tools in your toolbox will be creativity and patience.
