The Delivery Man Just Dropped Something Today…

By Carl On November 17, 2007 Under Personal/Site Ramblings

My First Amazon Books

Actually, it was last week that the 4 books up there, which are my first books, were delivered by Amazon.com. That one book called “Influence” by Robert Cialdini came from a local bookstore here.

Here are the books (left to right). I’d really recommend that you get at least one of them:

I’m currently reading Mark Joyner’s “The Great Formula.” Almost half done in under 2 days. After finishing the book, I won’t hesitate to give it a review. So far it’s the best book I’ve ever read, considering all those comic books and magazines ;-)

If you look at the titles again, you’ll see that almost all of them concentrates on writing. The first one is “Words that Sell” a thesaurus of words to use so that you can sell more. For example, you can find an alternative for the boring “many” into something like “gigantic” or “enormous”.

The other 3 books which are “NLP”, “Influence” and the famous “Hypnotic Writing” focuses on persuasion and how you can use words to influence people to do something, specifically buying your product. My dad is now reading “Hypnotic Writing” and he told me how hard-hitting the things taught by Joe Vitale here. I’m very excited to read it – and implement it *Evil laugh!*

I’ve just finished two books by Joe Vitale – “The Instruction Manual You Should have Been Given at Birth” which I didn’t like all that much and “The Attractor Factor” which I loved!

I probably will buy Hypnotic Writing when I get to a position where I find myself writing sales copy.

You are only 14 and you are reading those? I started all the readings at 15 and I am seen as a geek.

Anyway, I have finished Words That Sell last two months which I have borrowed from the college library. It is definitely a great read! ;-)

I was thinking of buying Mark Joyner’s the Great Formula, I was reading a bit of it in the bookshop the other day..but my blog is not at the Carl Ocab level yet so I will have to wait to buy it.

Thanks for the great posts Carl,

    Fabien

The “Hypnotic Writing” book is available at National Book Store. Good way to save on shipping costs.

Wait… the books were delivered straight to your house? I thought parcels have to be picked up from the post office?

Yes, they were delivered straight to our house. My dad told me that books don’t get taxed that’s why we don’t have to get it in the post office.

“Influence” is a great book that you can use in almost any situation when you interact with people. It’s one of the better books on understanding what motivates people to do certain things. Read about 4-5 times and I still learn from it…

I was in Vegas for a PPC event. Ros Gardner was there and she mentioned about a 13yo blogger, so I decided to check your blog out. Good work. Keep it up.
